Figma Config 2024, held in San Francisco from June 26 to 27, brought the design community together to explore the latest innovations shaping the future of design. This year's conference highlighted groundbreaking updates to Figma’s platform and revealed tools aimed at transforming the way we collaborate and create. Let’s dive into the key takeaways that had the design world buzzing.
UI3: A Redesigned Interface
One of the most anticipated announcements was the introduction of UI3, Figma’s redesigned interface. Focused on usability and accessibility, this new design streamlines workflows with an intuitive layout and enhanced visual clarity. With UI3, Figma reaffirms its commitment to making design tools accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level.
Figma Slides (Flides): A Game-Changer
Among the standout reveals was the beta launch of Figma Slides, affectionately dubbed “Flides.” This feature allows teams to collaborate on presentation slides directly within Figma. By bridging the gap between design and communication, Flides empowers designers to craft visually stunning presentations without switching platforms. It’s a seamless integration that reinforces the collaborative ethos of Figma.
Built-In UI Kits for Speed and Consistency
Figma also announced the addition of built-in UI kits from major platforms like Apple and Google, as well as its proprietary Figma kit. These pre-designed components make it easier for designers to maintain consistency and accelerate their workflow. Whether you’re crafting a mobile app or a web interface, these resources are invaluable for saving time and ensuring alignment with platform guidelines.
Suggest Auto Layout: Intuitive Design Made Easier
One of the most intriguing updates is the "Suggest Auto Layout" feature, which leverages AI to analyze design patterns and recommend optimal auto-layout configurations. This tool simplifies the process of creating responsive designs, making it easier for teams to produce adaptable, pixel-perfect interfaces.
Revamped New Tab Page
Figma’s new tab page has been reimagined to enhance navigation. The update provides quick access to recent projects, community files, and design resources. This small but impactful change ensures that designers spend less time searching and more time creating.
A Glimpse into the Future
Figma Config 2024 showcased the platform’s vision for the future of design. From empowering collaboration with Flides to leveraging AI for smarter workflows, these updates underscore Figma’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of what design tools can achieve. As we move forward, it’s clear that Figma is not just keeping up with the times—it’s defining them.
These announcements reaffirm Figma’s position as a leader in the design industry. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or just starting your journey, Figma’s latest innovations promise to make design more accessible, collaborative, and intuitive than ever before. Stay tuned as these features roll out and transform the way we work.
What’s a Rich Text element?
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
Static and dynamic content editing
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
How to customize formatting for each rich text
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
